This has got to be one of the illest songs (and videos) I have heard/seen during the last couple of weeks (and yes, I know I’m late again – but I gotta have at least 3-4 weeks to let a song simmer in my mind, so I can tell if it goes the distance). This is one of those songs, that just hit me like “WOW – this is amazing”. I didn’t really know who K-os was, so i had to cop his new album, “Yes” to get familiar with him (<– copyright Clinton Sparks). The album is far from your average rap album and has 3-4 really good tracks on it (or at least, these songs appeal to me). Amongst them are “Whip C.R.E.A.M.” and the song “Eye Know Something”, which is a clever remake of “I know there’s something going on” by (ABBA) Frida. His style reminds me of Outkast blended with some more alternative music. I can definitely recommend this! “I’ve been on the run, my shadow weighs a ton, it’s starting to make sense to me..”

XV – Everybody’s nobody Mixtape

Some time ago, I came across this guy on a blog (It think it was 2dopeboyz.com – shout out!). At first glance, a big nerd with too much time on his hands to read comic books and play xbox 360 – and even twitter about it. And to add to that, he was from Kansas? He was working on a project called “The kid with the green backpack” and also a mixtape called “Everybody’s nobody”. I didn’t really pay him much attention until one day I noticed that his producer was a guy called Seven. I remember this guy having produced a couple of tracks for our Danish hero, L.O.C’s album, which were very dope. So I tried to downloaded a XV track called – “Everybody’s Nobody” . Continue Reading…
Laws – Your future favorite rapper
Back in 2007, I produced a track called “Ashy Elbows” on Majik Most’s “You got jokes?” album. Now, the track after that, entitled “Bananas” featured a guy named Laws from Tampa, Florida (originally from Brazil). This track quickly became my favorite on the album due to the witty rhymes from this dude and the catchy 70′s like gameshow beat. I thought, this Laws guy is pretty dope – I hope to hear more from him in the future. Skip to 2009. I am browsing some webpages or maybe my twitter when I see that there is a new mixtape coming with Laws and DJ Smallz. I thought, I might as well give this mixtape a listen. Man, I ain’t even gonna compare him to nobody – this guy is just amazing. This is without a doubt the best mixtape of the year so far. This hit me instantly – not like the Drake mixtape, which I had to hear like 10 times before I got it. Continue Reading…
