I have a secret..

Ok, it’s not a secret any more. I ALMOST cried watching “The Kite Runner” (Khaled Hosseini). I saw it with my girlfriend on one side, and my mother and soon-to-be mother-in-law on the other side. They were all crying their eyes out and sulking throughout the entire movie. Me? I kept it real cool, with a huge “toad” in my throat and with a “smartypants over the top-like” smile to show the girls, that I, in no way, were touched by the movie. I swear - if they would have spoken to me during the movie, and I were to reply - my whole facade would have failed miserably and I probably would have burst into tears. This was such a strong and realistic movie (aside from the “a-bit too” hollywood-ish ending) and I am one of those, who hasn’t read the book yet - so I was taken by surprise. Very recommendable - anyone seen it and feel the same way? I’ll probably never get around to reading it though. I always end up with some Dan Brown book in the end.

Productivity at it’s finest

This is a clip from a lazy day in the studio. Safe to say, we didn’t get alot of work done. I guess, I am, what some would define as a “pain in the ass” in this videoclip. Anywho, It’s my friend Muzz the Maniac - trying to get the “Superman” theme right on my midi keyboard - while I slap the shit out of him for your viewing pleasure. Kids, don’t try this at home.

Swollen ego

This is the best spot ever!

I remember this one time (at band camp - sorry, that’s silly), where I got a phone call from a very prominent producer where I live. He told me, that he had heard some tracks off my beat CD and that I had totally bitten one of his beats. I asked him, how I would be in a situation to do so when I never heard the beat of his, which he was referring to. He replied that he had played it to me some time ago - which was not true, since I hadn’t been in the vicinity of him for the past year or so.

Now the point is - how CRAZY is it - To have such a ego, that when you suddenly discover that someone used the same samples as you did (and at the same time flipped it in a totally different way) you immediately come to the conclusion that he must have bitten your style/beat. Especially when the sample is some easy to get “The Three Degrees” soul track. To live in your own world where you are the king of samples/diggin and no-one else is allowed to flip the same sample. Damn man, reality check please. I would understand it if it was some obscure Belgian folk vinyl from the 40s, that he personally removed from a dead corpse or something. But this was a record that everyone with access to a 2nd hand record shop would be able to purchase (which I did).

Let this be an official excuse to the producer, who I “bit”. Sorry, it will never happen again - and from now on, I will personally call you up and make sure that what I sample is OK with you. Big ego’s - I salute you. You are legends in your own minds. Rockstars - Time to Wok and Roll!
